From the man behind the 2017 hit Get Out comes a brand-new nightmare. The movie left us with tons of questions and a lot of praise for its top-notch cast.

Release date: March 22

Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson stars as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in this entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Set in 1995, long before the events of more recent Marvel movies, Danvers must help Earth when it finds itself caught between two warring alien worlds. Costars include Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, and Jude Law as Danvers's Starforce commander and mentor.

Release date: March 8

Pack a couple hankies and keep reminding yourself that these circus animals are all CGI, because the live-action version of Dumbo is as much of a tearjerker as the 1941 original (maybe more so). Also be prepared for the movie to be a little off the wall — Tim Burton directed, after all.

Release date: March 29

This is the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, capping off the third phase and bringing the Avengers: Infinity War saga to a close before phase four kicks off later this year with Spider-Man: Far From Home. In this latest film, the remaining Avengers must work together to reverse the actions of Thanos, which left half of all life in the universe dead.

Release date: April 26

The second live-action Disney remake of 2019 is Aladdin, starring Mena Massoud as the titular thief, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, and Will Smith as the genie — he undoubtedly has some big shoes to fill, as the original genie was voiced by the late, great Robin Williams.

Release date: May 24

It may be the year of the woman for comic characters on the big screen, first with Captain Marvel and then with this X-Men sequel. Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner reprises her role of young Jean Grey, who finds herself unable to control her abilities after the team is hit by a solar flare during a rescue mission in space. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and more also appear.

Release date: June 7

Both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen have said in interviews that Toy Story 4 became so emotional to record that they had trouble getting their lines out. Considering that all three of the predecessors have had some major waterworks moments, we're already excited and anxious about the upcoming final installment.

Release date: June 21

Spider-Man-Far-From-Home.jpg

This sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming sees Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and his friends vacationing in Europe when disaster strikes in the form of Adrian Toomes as the villain Vulture (Michael Keaton). How great is it that they nabbed the original silver-screen Batman to play a Marvel villain?

Release date: July 5

This is the third live-action Disney film to grace screens in 2019, though this one will rely heavily on photorealistic computer animation since all of the characters are actually animals. It does boast an impressive cast that includes Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, John Oliver, Beyoncé, and James Earl Jones.

Release date: July 19

If you've ever wondered what the Manson family murder spree might look like when filtered through Quentin Tarantino's unique lens, this is the movie for you. It boasts an all-star cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, and Al Pacino (among many, many others) and promises to be unflinching and probably terrifying.

Release date: Aug. 9

This follow-up to the surprising 2017 hit promises to be just as scary, if not scarier, than the first installment. It picks up with the Losers' Club returning to Derry to fight It (Bill Skarsgard) 27 years after the events of the first film.

Release date: Sept. 6

This British hit ran for six seasons on ITV and PBS, and now, three years after it went off the air, fans are getting a follow-up film. Everyone involved is keeping mum on plot details, though the trailers have teased a royal visit from King George V and Queen Mary. Stars Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Maggie Smith, Joanne Froggatt, Jim Carter, Allen Leech, and many more are set to reprise their roles from the show. Joining them are newcomers Imelda Staunton, Simon Jones, Geraldine James, Tuppence Middleton, and Max Brown. The posters for the film also tease something quite sophisticated.

Release date: Sept. 20

This psychological thriller stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian who goes insane and turns to a life of crime in Gotham City. Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, and Brett Cullen also star.

Release date: Oct. 4

It isn't just the kiddos who are excited about this sequel to the animated smash hit that launched a thousand renditions of "Let It Go." In the new film, Elsa (Idina Menzel), Anna (Kristen Bell), and their friends embark on a new journey outside their homeland of Arendelle. Joining the returning cast members are newcomers Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown.

Release date: Nov. 22

Star-Wars-Episode-IX.jpg

Is this the final Star Wars installment that will ever grace the silver screen? Nope. It will certainly wrap up the sequel trilogy starring Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, and John Boyega, picking up where The Last Jedi left off — the Resistance has been reduced to a few fighters on the Millennium Falcon, and Kylo Ren is leading the First Order. This just may be the most anticipated film of 2019, and it doesn't even come out until late December.

Release date: Dec. 20
