The 5 Characters Most Likely to Die (or Almost Die) in the Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Finale

Who-Die-Grey-Anatomy-Season-15-Finale.jpg

Grey's Anatomy hasn't gutted us with an excruciating major death for a minute now. But between the plane crashes and bomb scares, we're pretty much always paranoid about when the death is lurking around the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial. And with a dangerous monster fog taking over Seattle, the medical drama's season 15 finale looks as ominous as Stephen King's The Mist.

There are characters who are pretty guaranteed to be safe. While Jo hasn't been herself lately after visiting her birth mother, she's back at the hospital and slightly sorted out after Meredith's pep talk. And barring something flammable entering their hyperbaric chamber, Meredith and Alex look OK even if the former will face the music for committing insurance fraud. And DeLuca, as precarious as his career may be after taking the fall for his lady, will likely be in police custody for the time being.

A handful of other characters don't look as lucky as they brave the foreboding weather, which has already led to a pileup. Even if they don't flat out die, here are the Grey Sloan staff members that we suspect might be in serious trouble by the end of the finale.

Maggie.jpg

After Jackson brings her to a sequestered spot for a romantic camping trip, Maggie hurts her ankle and also ends up with some kind of bug bite, only to be called up by Alex for a surgery ASAP. Just when the couple is about to leave, the rain starts pouring down.

It would be cruel of the writers to kill off Maggie since Meredith has already lost a sister. Plus, she's only started to get her footing with Jackson in this relationship. I don't necessarily think that Maggie will die, but a potential allergic reaction or car accident in the rain doesn't seem out of the question at this point. Jackson might not be totally safe, but things definitely don't look as good for Maggie, who is already mildly maimed.

Schmitt.jpg

OK, Schmitt can't die since Jake Borelli has been promoted to a series regular along with Chris Carmack (Link) and Greg Germann (Tom). This doesn't mean that he can't be injured, though. We should be worried about Schmitt because he's in very foggy traffic with Owen and Frances, the blood donor, smack dab in the middle of a freeway pileup. An accident would certainly test his fraught relationship with Nico, perhaps bringing them closer together again. Hopefully Grey's won't hurt our sweet Schmitt too badly. While I appreciate the character development, all this drama makes me miss his freewheeling comic relief days!

Owen.jpg

Owen's love pentagon with Koracick, Teddy, Amelia, and Link has become unwieldy lately. After years of the will-they-won't-they game with Teddy, many viewers feel like it might be too little too late for the trauma surgeon to fix things, even though Teddy is having his baby. While he's notoriously a difficult character, Owen should be given credit for finally being on the mend, stepping up as a father for Leo and going to therapy to sort his feelings.

In season 15's penultimate episode, Owen finally convinces Frances, the blood donor, to brave through her agoraphobia and go to the hospital. But while they're on the way back to Grey Sloan, their car ends up in the middle of a pileup. It all feels ominous for Owen because Teddy confessed her love for him to Amelia as her water broke. Dying a hero would almost be redemptive, given Owen's string of past selfish behavior. Still, it's not fair to his daughter or Teddy. (As a side note, the driver and Frances in the car might also be in danger, but fingers crossed that everyone ends up OK!)

Teddy.jpg

As previously mentioned, Teddy suddenly has a realization that she loves Owen and feels some kind of fire for him, though she's still dating poor Tom, and Amelia is still involved in Leo's life. Anyway, her water broke, and it looks like Amelia is trying to get her to the hospital in the middle of the storm in the finale promo. Which already seems dangerous!

Kim Raver has just returned this season to be a series regular again, so she's probably not going anywhere. But knowing this is Grey's Anatomy, my prognosis for a dramatic birth is 100 percent. We could see a medical complication or Teddy being worried about Owen like Bailey was for Tucker during her bomb scare birth.

Amelia.jpg

Amelia's love pentagon makes me nervous about her fate just because someone getting hurt could really ratchet up the drama. But Grey's wouldn't just kill her off for drama's sake, right? Anyway, we see her driving Teddy to the hospital in the finale promo. (As a side question, where'd she put Leo anyway?) In one quick moment in the teaser, she runs past a bunch of cars, which honestly looks a little dangerous even if she's probably just getting help. Let's keep our fingers crossed that she doesn't get hit or injured. We need Amelia to be OK so that she and Link can finally make things official!
