French eatery with global menu coming to Midtown East

A Gallic wind is blowing through a sleepy section of Midtown East.

Wanderlust, from French restaurateur Eric Cerato, is slated to open next month at 1004 Second Ave. at 53rd Street.

The white-walled eatery with crystal chandeliers will feature an eclectic global menu with dishes ranging from oysters with ginger, Cuban croquetas with ham and cheese, shrimp pad thai and that French Canadian sidedish favorite, poutine.

Breakfast and brunch features include crepes with lemon and orange, a lobster roll, full English breakfast.

Cerato also owned the longtime classic French restaurant, La Mangeoire, which closed earlier this month, but he plans a relaunch this fall.

La Mangeoire was tough to close “because we are emotionally attached to it but a fresh aesthetic will attract a new demographic while still offering our existing customers a quality they have come to expect,” Cerato said.

Encore, at 3,000 square feet, will have 175 seats and farm to table local produce.
